Quiet Quitting: What it is and why we should care

FRESH Takes - Episode 41

On today’s episode of FRESH Takes On The Future Of Work, host Jess Podgajny is joined by Steve Van Valin. Steve is the Founder and CEO of Culturology and the author of the forthcoming book, The Search for Meaning at Work. Today, Jess and Steve discuss the not-quite-quiet phenomenon of “quiet quitting,” burnout, and the current desire for work-life balance.

Steve defines “quiet quitting” as performing at the minimum level to not be fired and is an action that has gained increased social acceptance. To counteract this mindset, Steve believes managers should strive to emphasize with their employees and figure out what motivates them at work. Ultimately, people long for meaning in their roles and should be empowered in the workplace.
